I have just purchased property in Sunlight Waters that has a water connection. How do I get the service put into my name?
To start new service, submit the New Service Application form.
A $200.00 new account fee is required for each new property owner. This fee may be paid at the time of closing, or you can billed directly by the water district.
I am renting a property in Sunlight Waters and want the water put into my name.
The policy of Kittitas County Water District #7 is that the owner of the property is responsible for ensuring that the water service bill is paid. This means all bills must be sent to the owner of record.
To find the owner, contact the Kittitas County Assessor, or use this tool: https://taxsifter.co.kittitas.wa.us/Search/Results.aspx.
Once the owner receives the bill, they or anyone they designate may pay the bill.
I own a lot in Sunlight Waters without a water connection. How can I get a water connection?
As of February, 2021, Kittitas County Water District #7 has been allotted additional water service connections available to property owners within the Sunlight Waters Development. Property owners may apply for new service using the New Service Application Form or by contacting the Clerk at [email protected] or PO Box 161, Thorp, WA 98946.
All applicants must be the property owners of record and provide the parcel number of their lot. Connections will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
I am a property owner in Sunlight Waters. I have a connection and a water meter. Do I have water rights, and can I reassign them to someone else?
These definitions may help answer your question.
- Water Rights – Only Kittitas County Water District #7 holds water rights within the district’s boundaries, which comprise the area within the Sunlight Waters Development.
- Water Service Connection – Access provided to customers by Kittitas County Water District #7 for their drinking (household) water needs. Customers do not have water rights.
- Connection Reversion – Any time Kittitas County Water District #7 removes a water service connection from a customer’s property (whether voluntarily or as a result of a delinquent account), that connection reverts back to Kittitas County Water District #7 as an available connection.

My water looks brownish. What’s wrong?

Note that sometimes repairs require shutting off a main, which stirs up sediment. After the repairs are done, you can let your water run for a while till it is clear again.

About the Water District
The Monthly Meeting times are the second Tuesday of the month at 6:00 P.M. in the Clubhouse.
The Annual Meeting is generally in early fall at the Clubhouse.

What is the purpose of the meetings?
The Monthly Meeting is an open forum with an agenda during which the Water District conducts business. The agenda allows for public questions and comments.
The Annual Meeting is geared toward the Water District listening to its customers, answering questions, and addressing concerns. At this meeting, the Commissioners will inform you of the previous year’s accomplishments and future goals, and provide education on and commitment to water conservation.

History of Water District #7
The service area for Kittitas County Water District # 7 is defined as the lots that comprise the Sunlight Waters Development, which was originally platted and developed in 1969.
Originally, Sunlight Waters Country Club owned the water system which had a wooden reservoir that was leaking. To qualify for the needed funding to finance the replacement of the reservoir, it was required to form a water district.
The Water System was quit-claimed over to the Water District in 1999. The system became fully metered in 2007, the same year the 200,000-gallon concrete reservoir was completed. Of the base rate, $13.00 per customer is dedicated to paying off the $500,000 loan for the reservoir.
